The Very Best Of Tom Rush: No Regrets. Album 1970 13 Songs. After several albums for various labels, Rush landed on Elektra Records and recorded this self-titled collection of blues and folk traditionals. It's not to be confused with his Columbia Records debut, 1970's Tom Rush. His love for classic American music is evident in these hard-rocking acoustic renditions of Kokomo Arnold's Milk Cow Blues, Bukka White's Panama Limited, and public domain tunes such as Black Mountain Blues and The Cuckoo. His singing is tougher throughout these early albums than the restrained and assured sty. The story behind the making of two legendary albums from Rush. 2112 was the album that saw Rush break through to major chart success, going to No. 1 in second Rush album brought the studio debut of Neil Peart as the band's new drummer and principal lyricist. Peart's addition was a game-changing move, giving Rush a clear direction with a rhythmic pilot who was more than ready for the challenges that lay ahead. The classic anthem is certainly one of the great album opening tracks of all time, and the sonic punch its opening inflicts still sounds just as impressive as the first time that we heard it. Geddy Lee delivers one of his most famous lead vocals and the signature lyrical opening has us scratching our head, wondering how we left it off of our list of best opening lyrics earlier this summer. Deciding the best Rush album is a near impossible task. On one hand, you have a perfect meld of Rush's 70's and 80's era in Moving Pictures. On the other, you have their absolute classic album and the recording that cemented them as a prog rock powerhouse, 2112, with that legendary masterpiece of a title track. On the other hand, you could say the vast amounts of experimentation on Hemispheres resulting in quite possibly the greatest rock instrumental ever, La Villa Strangiato, takes the cake for pinnacle Rush album. Well, in my opinion, or at least at the moment Permanent Wav. Tom Rush born in Portsmouth, NH, on 8 February 1941 is an American folk and blues singer and songwriter. In addition to performing his own compositions, he sang songs by Joni Mitchell, Jackson Browne,. But Classic Rush is no slap-dash compilation assembled to make a quick buck after Tom Rush's departure from Elektra. It is, rather, one of the most thoughtful collections of music I have encountered, showcasing an underrated artist's talent and the many moods he was able to create. Selections on the album written by Tom Rush include No Regrets. He recorded this a second time for the Columbia label, releasing a number of albums there in the 1970s. But the Columbia version seems quite over-arranged compared to this earlier one, whose intimate charm could hardly be bettered. No Regrets is followed immediately by Rockport Sunday, a solo for acoustic guitar
