Go Live from Paris is the second album by Go, recorded live in Paris at the Palais des Sports on 12 June 1976. Stomu Yamashta - percussion and keyboards. Steve Winwood - vocals and piano. Michael Shrieve - drums. Klaus Schulze - synthesizers. Al Di Meola - lead guitar. Jerome Rimson - bass. Brother James - congas. Pat Thrall - guitar solo on Crossing The Line. Karen Friedmann - part of vocal choir. I was very familiar with the work of Steve Winwood, Michael Shrieve, Klaus Schulze and Al Di Meola. The other performers I had never heard of. The general genre was progressive rock so I was keen to give it a listen. I came to learn about this records existence through my research into Michael Shrieves works. He is one of my all-time favorite drummers-right up there with Carl Palmer, Stewart Copeland, Bill Bruford and Neil Peart. If you are not familiar with Michael Shrieve, he is the drummer for Santana. He has done a number of excellent collaborations with several other artists. Im also a. Recorded at the Palais Des Sports. Paris, 12th June, 1976. Al Di Meola - lead guitar Steve Winwood - vocals and piano Michael Shrieve - drums Klaus Yamashta, Steve Winwood and Michael Shrieve lead an impressive ensemble through soundscapes, unveiled in a variety of perspectives. Perhaps it is the international cast of performers that allows for such an unfettered consortium of ideas that brought together former Spencer Davis Group, Traffic and Blind Faith member Steve Winwood, as well as Santana co-founder Michael Shrieve and mid-'70s era Santana percussionist Yamashta - the latter of whom were key benefactors to the criminally underrated Santana. long-player Borboletta 1974. Steve Winwood vocal is quite nice on some songs, some Al Di Meola guitar work as well. But these compositions are coming just from another story. Excellent female background voices, r'n'b rhythms and jazz-funk. Go is the first album of Stomu Yamash'ta's fusion super group which became known as The Go Project. After an appendicitis attack in 1971 Winwood developed peritonitis, a condition that made the unstable lifestyle of touring unbearable for him. Like Michael Shrieve and Steve Winwood, Al Di Meola was in transition between playing with a prestigious band and starting a solo career. The show started with taped music by Klaus Schulze.
