It features Hancock's quartet trumpeter Freddie Hubbard, bassist Ron Carter and drummer Tony Williams with additional saxophonist George Coleman. It is one of Hancock's best-known compositions and has become a jazz standard. The piece was used in a Fabergé commercial and was originally listed on the album's master tape as TV Jingle until Hancock's sister came up with the new name. Villalobos has been known to play a re-rub of Global Communication's classic 14:31, and the rollicking riff at the center of Maiden Voyage achieves an equally straightforward psychedelia. Two-note bass grumbles moves beneath a skittering melodic line as it unveils itself from silky pads. Pinched hi-hats add propulsion while resonant pianos bump up against the ongoing arpeggio
Does anyone know where I can buy the digital version?
7000,- :) hahaha ..... Free shipping i hope ?
..if you would ????. amazing track, amazing Price boy ✌????️
Golden freddi
I have a copy of this in mint condition, I played it once and haven't touched it since. If anyone has some Ed Banger Records I'd be interested in trading it for some.
I've got pretty much every ed banger going with some doubles, what would you like?
are you still interested about this kind of trade man ?
Wild Python
Hilarious - bag of shite :) Who would pay this price for stinkers :(
Terje did a much more cosmic version on the Simon thing.
Just by the 12 version of the original. It's beautiful.
Definitely agree, his version is more to the original, this ame version is a more minimalistic approach. But the original is soo good, conclusion is...
Thanks for this tip as I wasn't aware. It sounds great.
Love this!! Great rework! £110 Is ridiculous! Hope these philomena releases get repressed.
1111$? I just can't seem to justify that price. Why so high?
It's done better than my ISA has these last few years!
I owned 2 copies of this, sold one for £20.00 and the other for £25.00 these current asking prices seem very high to me but that's the market I suppose. Both re-edits/remixes are sublime. Diamonds is such a happy feel good song and Maiden Voyage is just beautiful.
Yeah and I bought one of them. Trying to sell mine if anyone will meet the price. In no hurry as I don't think it will get a repress. At least I hope not!
Click this link and use your eyes and your brain: but it's fairly obvious how to track something down and I'm not into holding people's hands, merely help them to help themselves.
I bought one copy from Discogs and the other from here or Juno records before the prices went crazy. You have a phone or computer, google it, thanks James.
Hello where do you buy the 2 copies ? i m looking for one ! quality is the same ?
Maybe we should ask Paul Simon for a repress. He's got some negotiating power in this matter.
Love it. U have 2 listen 2 it after the PS original 2 appreciate the subtle beauty of the re-working.
everybody should be able to listen to this master piece at least once in his life, this is why it has to be repressed :)
the monster
Bought one soon after release and still playing almost every time cause nobody can resist such an epic build over sweet Paul's vocals. Essential.EDIT, oh how I wish I have bought two copies, still playing it every time!!
Repress this for the love of god ..
it has to get a repress...
could not agree more.
works the wedding, works the club.
..awesome!!! best sunday Vinyl ever <3. thanks a lot ripperton!
felt boot
Someone sell this to me at a reasonable price!
Both mixes of this are subtle, simple and very beautiful. The Global Communiction track is basically their version of 'Love on a real train' by Tangerine Dream and Ripperton houses it up using all the melodies and ambiance of the original. The Ame edit is more then an edit, it is a full remix of Paul Simon's 'Diamonds On the soles of her shoes'. The first half is very subtle and deep and the second half adds highhats to give it a bit of energy and movement. I'm a big Paul Simon fan so I love it! The artwork and embossing on the sleeve is magnificent, a real collectors item but with great music to back it up.
wow sellers r going crazy with the price 4 this ep.
So happy to have it, thanx to Groove Attack Records - they were the only shop selling it (now out of stock), despite it costed double comparing to normal 12", amazing amazing edit by Ame! I even played 128kbps version ripped from UTube whle waiting it to arrive (shame on me, but I just had to give it to the people), and it made a such a good reaction in clubs! The vibe is so original, positive, jazzy and airy. For sure this will stay in my records box forever. And yes, as many mentioned, cover design and printing technique is beyond everything you have seen before.
