Album

Brutalism is the debut studio album by Bristol band Idles, released in March 2017. The band started recording the album in 2015. Singer Joe Talbot's mother who is pictured on the album cover along with a sculpture by Talbot and his father died during the recording of the album after a long illness, and his time caring for her, and her death, had a major impact on the album, with Talbot later stating She was that album. That's why she was on the cover. Talbot added lyrics after the music had been. BRUTALISM ALBUM. Posted on 13th February 2019 15th June 2020 by allotmentrob. Emails suck, ours don't. Thanks to IDLES, now a new generation of rock lovers got stories to tell about. Brutalism is the debut album from UK post-hardcore band IDLES. The album was written after the death of lead vocalist Joe Talbots mother, on whom Mother is based. Trellick Tower, London, United Kingdom photo by stevecadman. was supposed to be, like the concrete car parks, schools and churches of post-war Britain, a practical and cathartic mend of obliteration of what was before. It is a big, beautiful, clumsy, ugly, brutal piece of shit that just may have saved us as a band and we love it. Now, we are in an upside down world that seems to have unharnessed all that we mended in the optimistic pocket of our souls and the pricks are winning by a landslide. It's punk, or post-punk, or something in between, with bruised and bruising guitars flailing before grazed bass and drums hit so hard most people'd snap a wrist, but it's crucially human. It's very funny in places as mini-hits Well Done and Stendahl Syndrome prove and although Brutalism may have it's downer moments, the boundless charisma of grizzled frontman Joe Talbot shines through and offers a weird kind of optimism

Shame and bad karma on the two sellers who have sold this item already and any who choose to sell it in the future. Somethings don’t have a price...

Well, I think Phewsonsbastard makes a valid point here (even if the cursing is a bit weird). Of course, you can sell everything you want but this band is all about changing society. That, for me, includes the music culture. Think of those vultures, who buy concerts tickets just to resell them for ridiculous prices. Why does someone buy a very special record for 100 and then sell it for 1000? You are free to do so but please don't expect others applauding you. And I doubt if someone has the money to buy a record for 100 bucks in the first place is so desperately in need for money. This could happen but why not selling it for 100? If you give money to charity, then maybe you feel similar.
Uriel
Phewsonsbastard, I don't get your high and severe anathem: didn't the band sell it at first?
Dalarin
Why? I bought a copy off a guy who just needed the money? You think Idles would begrudge someone skint selling a record to pay his bills? I’m now in the process of selling it on eBay. I’m personally going to give any money I make over my original cost to charity. But so what if I didn’t? I’m pretty sure every copy was bought by a fan. And every copy sold has been bought by a fan. And if someone chooses to sell it to another fan and make some cash in the process then who are you to judge? So maybe shame and bad karma on the judgemental self righteous eh?
Flamehammer
just received the partisan records pressing but sound is like muffled...does someone know if the original balley records pressing sound better than this.this album is a gem and i would really to get the better sound possible. Thanks to let me knowbest
Global Progression
The Partisan reissue sounds clearer than the Balley pressings. But i wouldn't say either of them sound muffled, you must have a dud.

My girlfriend was slightly taken aback by this purchase... For me it’s the most meaningful record in my collection. Joe’s mother’s passing weighs heavy on this record and it’s a sublime artistic statement to release this edition. It will be difficult to hear ‘Divide and Conquer’ without thinking of her passing from now on.Beautiful. Best Punk record of '17 by some distance from one of the most vital bands on earth. Reading about Joe's trips to visit his mother between Newport and Bristol during the making of this album really pulls on the old heart strings; what an artistic statement this record is. Very few bands have resonated with me in such a personal, political and musical level with me; Idles’ ‘proper’ debut LP is up there with Fugazi, Propaghandi and Bad Brains as far as I’m concerned.Raw as fuck punk with an important message - what’s not to love?I sincerely hope the remaining 99 guys who purchased this don't even consider the thought of flipping a record containing Joe's mum's ashes. Truly an LP to treasure. Much love to Joe and the rest of the band - if you were to call it quits now your legacy is intact; however there are many miles to go on your path to greater things. I hope the guys who missed out continue to support this band and are lucky enough to catch some of their intense live shows.Looking forward to future Idles releases and treasuring this LP for the rest of my days.❤️

No problem, I would too and thank you for replying ????????

Sorry man; I’d sell my house before I sell this record
Marr
I know it's a long shot and the answer is probably no, but would you consider selling your beloved LP?? Thanks, Iain
