This is one of those albums I was hoping for a vinyl re-release. So I put it aside, then listened to it again a few days later. And then again a few days after that
Fecage
Absolutely mind-blowing pressing. Perfectly quiet and succinct. Not to mention this is one of the best albums of all time.
Mopimicr
Shocking pressing... noisy, distorted in the loud parts. Not happy at all.I see others are praising this pressing but in my case it's a complete let down.I've had it with coloured vinyl now... totally crap.
Doomwarden
I have a feeling you got the US RSD version. It is really crap. The great sounding one is the Euro release.
Mazuzahn
Same here, background noise and static at every corner. Not absolute rubbish either, but sounds very disapointing. And no confusion with Record Store Day white pressing : front sticker on blister confirms my copy is this exact reference. Nothing to do with color, though : i have crappy black straight-out-of-factory-mint pressings ("I_con" by De Staat) and marvellous sounding colored pressings (white version of "The pale emperor" by marilyn manson).
Warianys
Are you certain you don't have this different white version (RSD): https://www.discogs.com/Goldfrapp-Felt-Mountain/release/6912041
Minha
A truly phenomenal pressing. I never thought wax could sound this eargasmic!
Dordred
As with the other reviews, my copy of this pressing sounds fantastic.
Dont_Wory
The rumors are true. This thing sounds fantastic. Light candles and hop in the bubble bath.

Alison has a beautiful voice. It is on this album her voice rests most beautifully. It's a very strange - alien - album, beguiling with its beauty; under its surface many other creatures lurk. When you listen to the lyrics and strange noises, you notice the album is more experimental than it first seems with its seamless beauty. The whistling on Lovely Head is an example of the album's brilliance; it is timeless, the stuff of classics. (So good it could be exploited for a major commercial - luckily we can forget the product they were selling and the sound remains.) "Fascist baby" with a candy sweetener; this is an album to listen to and dream along with.[Regarding the white vinyl pressing; STUMM188X. Barcode: 5-414939-924460. Not the RSD pressing which some have complained about. It's rarely something with which I notice a difference, but the sound quality is astounding. Of course you have to turn the volume up from the CD setting. Volume up, the vinyl sounds better than the CD - gut reaction. It genuinely made me wonder . . . I am not a techno head, why can't they always get it right like this?]

I pretty much stay right away from 180gram reissues, more often than not they are very disappointing, ( usual reasons, they can sound like someone has smothered your speakers with a blanket, they can sound way too tinny, sibilance issues, horrible distortion from being pressed too loud etc)Even though I have the original pressing of Goldfrapps Felt Mountain which has some serious distortion issues (whether it was a pressing fault or the fact I bought it 2nd hand and previous owner damaged it with a worn stylus or something I'm not sure) I thought this excellent album was worth taking a chance on with the 180 gram reissue even just out of curiosity.I have just purchased and listened to the european white vinyl 180 gram reissue and I am extremely impressed. It just felt right to my ears straight away, not pressed too quiet or too loud, no dreaded sibilance or inner groove distortion. The real test was the high frequency sounds, again very little to absolutely no distortion.I was even surprised at how well it handled the brilliant track Deer Stop, even the distorted vocals didn't get over distorted which is even more remarkable considering it closes out side 1 ( anyone familiar with vinyl will know that distortion is much more evident towards the end of each side)I think I heard maybe 2 very faint ticks on the whole album and background noise was almost non existent, it was beautifully quiet throughout. No vinyl pressing is ever going to be perfect there's always gonna be some surface noise, distortion, sibilance etc, either there will be very little and hardly noticeable, somewhere inbetween or alot, that's just the nature and charm of vinyl, but the quality of the pressing and how it's treated on repeated spins can make a huge difference. In closing I would definitely recommend this european 180gram reissue to anyone who wants this album on vinyl, hopefully a vinyl reissue of Goldfrapps Seventh Tree can be done this well, I'd buy it in a flash.
Mysterious Wrench
Amazing quality. This is probably one of the best sounding albums that I own (not that I have a large collection). The white vinyl is also gorgeous in and of itself. So glad that one of my favorite albums turned out this good.

Thanks y'all for the comments here and on the other vinyl re-releases about the quality.I waited and waited and now I am listening to a perfect copy (STUMM188X) and I am very happy!
Hiclerlsi
At last... 2 copies I've tried of this european Mute release, both PERFECT.After returning 3 terrible copies of the american RSD LPs (all were noisy as hell), This is the one to get!
Keath
first time ever and I mean really for very first time there is a pure vinyl without any surface noise and clicks pops and any kind of bad experience! ......superb piece of vinyl!!!!
