Its an incredibly complex subject, he explains. Buy, stream here. All physical versions are indexed as just two tracks respectively. Ive played Spiritchaser more than anything else in their discography, and for getting into the state of gnosis required for complex ritual, there was simply nothing better until now with Dionysus, which I would actually put on the same level as Spiritchaser. DIONYSUS The New Album, Out Now. Purchase the album here. 2 tracks 36:10. ACT II The Mountain - The Invocation - The Forest - Psychopomp. Act II The Mountain 5:34 5. Dionysus was an especially different album for Dead Can Dance since its almost entirely Perrys work. Brendan Perry vocals, instrumentation, cover photography and design. After he read three more books about the deity, he decided he wanted to do an impressionistic work rather than a song cycle. Even by Dead Can Dances own outsized standards, though, Dionysus is an album of radical ambition, a work of scholarly pursuit and musical depth that explores European folk traditions, the boundaries of language, and Latin American bird calls. Dionysus is the ninth studio album by the British-Australian band Dead Can Dance, officially released on 2 November 2018 by PIAS Recordings, six years after the group's last album, Anastasis. Author Grim Lord. Australian-British musical project formed in 1981 in Melbourne by Brendan Perry & Lisa. Dead Can Dance have more or less created a sequel to one of their deepest and most respected albums, at least in my personal opinion. All tracks are written by Dead Can Dance Brendan Perry and Lisa Gerrard. The follow-up to the pioneering Australian art pop duo's 2012 comeback LP Anastasis, Dionysus dispenses with the more song-oriented approach of its predecessor in favor of an atmosphere-driven bacchanalian oratorio inspired by the Greek god of wine and ecstasy. Act II The Invocation 4:56 6. Dead Can Dance. Dead Can Dance PIAS. Dionysus is the ancient Greek god of wine. Act II The Forest 5:04 7. Dionysus changed from an early agrarian, seasonal god of nature into something quite profound towards the end, when the occult was banned in ancient Rome. Folk Ethereal Wave. DeadCanDance Dionysus DCD. Dead Can Dance - ACT I : Sea Borne - Liberator Of Minds - Dance Of The Bacchantes. Listen album. Dionysus was definitely worth the wait and might go down as one of the best releases of this genre to date. Taken from the new album DIONYSUS - out. Listen free to Dead Can Dance Dionysus ACT I : Sea Borne - Liberator of Minds - Dance of the Bacchantes, ACT II : The Mountain - The Invocation - The Forest - Psychopomp. Split into two tracks with a sum of seven movements, Dionysus unfurls like a guided ayahuasca trip a curl of aromatic smoke that develops into a roaring, pre-Byzantine bonfire replete with primeval chants and ancient rites

People seem to be more concerned about sound quality of the pressings on here lately rather than actually reviewing the music?Yes that is important but does the music touch your soul in some way? Have DCD have anything new to say? On first listen this is pretty much run of the mill and predictable ethnic flavoured Dead Can Dance.Sounds like an album brilliantly produced with a Dead Can Dance sample pack at abbey road..Maybe a few more listens it will reveal more depth like their older works, but I won't hold my breath.
Swift Summer
Stunning. It could be said that the catalyst to Dionysus is Ecstasy, This recording is about order, measurement and complete control.DCD may not have the urgency that was once apart of their ethos.Brendon Perry and Lisa Gerrard are the protagonists of a future music order with its roots in ancient nature and the practise of paganism.

I found act I to be fairly dull, maybe I have high expectations, but I found it boring.
Fecage
For me one ob best DCD album ever! I can reccomend.
Conjukus
Poor, agree with the user it's like a spiritchaser filmscore.
Gavikelv
What a great concept album! Sounds like Spiritchaser which i think is one of the strongest DCD albums....performing is quite good with lot of emotions like DCD use to do..Anastasis is not as good as this very strong and much more coherent album.
Gardagar
hmmm..perhaps nobody would like i would say but what a fiasco album. Sounds like Spiritchaser which i think is the weakest DCD album....in Dionysus the voices sounds hidden the tracks and performing is quite poor witn no emotions like DCD use to do..Anastasi is miles away much better than this sorry but really dissapointment album.

Well, at least it's not bad and in compared with 90% of all other world music & relater genres releasing novadays Dionysus on a head over. I wasn't in religious ecstasy like when I've heard Aion, ITL or Spiritchaser for the first time... and so what? That took years for me to understand how great first DCD album was. Since now I love it not less than any other. Or 1th Brendan's solo album, first time I even didn't listen until the end, honestly, I thought that's just shit! How stupid I was - now I think that first Brendan's solo it's one of the most beautiful albums I ever heard, every word and note is worth its weight in gold on this record. Or I've accepted Anastasis only 2 years ago, I just couldn't hear DCD in that album since it was released. For me, that was just a good album by another band... but then ooops and I got that feeling again and now this is a welcome guest in my player. Returning to Dionysus I would say that I need time to feel this album in full. Now I agree with a person who said that it's sounds like "Spiritchaser vibe was turned into a film score", I can't say more precisely.Psychopomp just grandiouse!

What can I say been a fan for over 20 odd years great album but to short to call it an album more lest an e.p but still worth having & enjoy able
Balhala
?? It's longer than their debut, and the same length as The Serpent's Egg and Aion.
huckman
So to you the first 5 albums of DCD are EPs ? They are all less than 40’. Just to remind you that only 3 albums from them are 50’+ long. ^^
