Fewer Moving Parts is David Bazan's debut EP, released in limited quantities on June 13, 2006. It was re-released on 22 May 2007 on Barsuk Records. The EP was considered a stopgap release to tide fans over until his full-length solo debut. While officially an EP, Fewer Moving Parts is longer - in total tracks or in runtime - than some albums. The EP features five songs in two forms: first with full instrumentation, then stripped-down acoustic. In its first incarnation, Backwoods Nation was a Pedro. Fewer Moving Parts EP. Eat My Flesh, Drink My Blood. On the cover of David Bazan's Fewer Moving Parts EP, the singer-songwriter is rendered in a graphic novel-style illustration by Zak Sally, Low's former bass player. Bearded, axe slung over his shoulder, and foregrounding a clear-cut field of nubby stumps, Bazan appears, significantly, alone. This is, after all, his first release under his own name since retiring Pedro the Lion. Equally fitting- and appropriately heavy handed- for the EP's content is the lumberjack imagery of felled trees. On Fewer Moving Parts, Bazan takes swings at some easy targets and aims to cut them down. Fewer Moving Parts. David Bazan - Fewer Moving Parts 2006. To favorites 1 Download album. Listen album. David Bazan Format: Vinyl. The best way to describe this EP is that it combines elements of Control, Achilles Heel, and David Bazan's electronic side project Headphones. The result is 5 indie rock songs that follow the logical progression of sound for Pedro The Lion. All the songs are fairly catchy and singable, with Cold Beer and Cigarettes being the stand-out track. It's true that the songs tend to sound a bit bland after a while, and repeated listens tend to dwindle in just a short time. Fewer Moving Parts is the first solo EP from David Bazan, the former frontman for the indie rock band Pedro The Lion. This EP was released shortly after Bazan broke up the band. The song Fewer Broken Pieces serves as an explanation for why he went solo. Bazan said he put out the EP to help tide fans over until his first full-length solo album, which wasnt released until 2009. Fewer Moving Parts Q&A. Producers David Bazan. Writers David Bazan.
